Successful dental implant treatment requires an appropriate volume of healthy bone. Where bone has been lost, grafting may be recommended to rebuild or preserve the area.

Why might bone grafting be needed?

Bone can be lost following tooth removal, infection, gum disease, trauma or previous treatment. Grafting may help rebuild or preserve the area before or alongside implant placement.

How is the need for grafting decided?

Mohsin assesses the available bone carefully and explains whether grafting is necessary as part of the wider treatment plan.

Can grafting be combined with other treatment?

In selected cases, procedures to help preserve or rebuild bone may be recommended at the time of extraction or during a later stage of treatment.
